First Motion 3 video promoting www.elixir-design.co.uk

May 18, 2009 by carwithen

AT last I complete my first Motion 3 video

marking a shift towards Motion Graphics, which I find great fun due to the time/motion factor. I like web design from a visual angle, but coding leaves me cold, so I minimise it. Motion graphics is much more fun!

ME ME ME – new Youtube video

April 8, 2009 by carwithen

Comment on deforestation as one of many video rants on many subjects, based on our numerous failures to understand cause and effect, or in many cases, even care about it.
I will be using my own music, video, computer and artistic skills for more than entertainment from now on – there’s enough of that around anyway.

Time to wake up.

Ministers and expenses “I’ve done nothing wrong” & “worked within the rules”

April 5, 2009 by carwithen

This blog is about to become lively after a period of neglect.

This global recession and impending environmental catastrophe is getting to me and I’ll have to let off steam with a mixture of rants, my own music, my own videos, my own montages of text+images, my humour (which I hang onto for dear life) and some contained rage.

My skills are with art and computers, not English language, so sometimes I will flounder. Content is what matters however, not packaging (I am not a package designer, though once a graphic designer, but I digress).

Not sure where this is going, but it doesn’t matter, because we are all doomed anyway.

Animals are just dumb – people are stupid.

I watched a TV programme a while ago in which an ant colony clubbed together to save itself from the flood. We are so selfish, we would sooner perish on the spot than think of the bigger picture.

Politicians are supposed to be very intelligent and that’s part of the reason why we elect them to run the country – I guess it’s a difficult job and that’s maybe why we have so many cock-ups when they try.

So why do the rest of us minions understand the difference between rules and morals?

Or am I being too obscure.?

Maybe they understand just fine and are yet another example of failing to see cause (I take too much) and effect (nothing left), or simply, dare I say, don’t care as long as “I’m alright”, which is afterall the point of politics it seems.

It doesn’t inpsire me with hope for our new future to know many of those in power display such failure to act according to morals and ethics and yet again act more according to economics (personal economics usually)!

Surely more than a handful of us realise we are largely in this recession, because so many have been on the take for so long and we will just head for another unless behaviour changes.

£39.99 barbecue
£2.50 toothbrush holder
£369.99 flatscreen TV
£119.99 personal video recorder
A sofa bed worth £511.20
Plant pots to the value £344.70
A fireplace and the fitting of it – £1,000

So if this is for minister duties, what they hell do they do with their wages if we are paying for such things as above?

As a minister, you are supposed to set an example I would think – otherwise please don’t preach to me. Talk is cheap as someone once said ( I wonder who ).

Great dog site found

September 6, 2008 by carwithen

http://dreamdogsart.typepad.com

Getting back into all things doggy and this site is a very good place to browse for dog art and other poducts. It is mainly contemporary dog art, but older stuff is mentioned too and plenty of nice pics to explore. Recommended for dog art/products.

Degas fans – great site

September 6, 2008 by carwithen

Found http://www.edgar-degas.org

which is a very simple to navigate site devoted to Degas, who I am a fan of too being also interested in nude art, some of which you can see at my site

http://www.john-carwithen.com/nudes%20main.html

For those of you who don’t recognise his name, maybe this will ring a bell, entitled “Dance Class 1871″

I don’t profess to match him for quality and don’t share his abiltity to draw moving models in a scene such as dance class, but I try – bless.

This site even invites you to download images thanks to the Creative Commons Licence, which is rather nice of them!

New pet portraits website

September 3, 2008 by carwithen

http://www.exceptional-dog-portraits.co.uk

I’m back after rather a long absence

Among other things from the “Great Sea of Undone Things”, I have started a new website for pet portraits / dog portraits in oils on canvas. Still plenty of undone things to do yet!

I have painted dogs for many years and have decided to give it more effort again for my own purposes and because I seem to have many happy clients with dog pictures of their beloved.

My other general site
http://www.john-carwithen.com/ continues in it’s present form.

My other interests are all things computers, especially Apple computers and I hope to bring to this blog interesting stuff in that area too.

I also do web design and as I gain momentum in this field, I am struck by the complexity of web design and the internet and can only cope with it (my artistic temperament makes me overload easily) by shrinking it down my own special way. I hope to share some of these bite-size chunks soon and Macs are a good example of how information can be manipulated to be more digestible.

my avatar – like it?

Yin Yang

I just took to it straight away, being very interested in Chinese medicine and martial arts, especially the soft type, such as Tai Chi or Chi Gung.
